Segarra has been gaining a great deal of momentum leading into this release. The Egg, one of the UK's most innovative electro bands dropped their 'classic-in-the-making' Something To Do LP today stateside. Oxford, Mississippi's indie rock duo Young Buffalo have released their highly anticipated new EP today via Votiv. This self-titled EP exhibits a sort of vintage swagger that contributes to the inherent uniqueness of this Afrobeat-tinged indie rock release. The EP's lead single "Nature Boy" has been generating 'Next-Big-Thing' level buzz among indie tastemaker's as it makes its way around the blogosphere. Young Buffalo approached the recording of this new EP with a more mature mindset than they have in the past. The band is a more cohesive unit than at any other point in their career, and they are genuinely happy playing music together. When asked how the recording of this EP has changed his view of the band's future, Barrett offered this statement: "Two years ago I would've answered like 'we're going to win Grammys and tour the world. Now thats just bullshit. I just want to be able to tour and make records, anything else is a bonus. I just want an excuse not to be a caterer full time".
Young Buffalo was born out of the prolific, yet under the radar, local University of Mississippi music scene, and its formation took place over several long and sporadic years. Although the band can trace their origins back to Jim and Ben writing music together in high school, it wasn't until Jim self-recorded an EP in the spring of 2009 under the moniker 'Young Buffalo' (a nickname he had for Ben at school) that the band was truly born. The duo's eclectic personal tastes and the fact that both songwriters are proficient at a variety of instruments has resulted in a sound that is both accessible and thoughtfully progressive.
This EP serves as a rebirth of sorts for the band, and with the quality it exudes; their patient approach in getting to this point seems well worth the wait.

Trey Anastasio Announces New Album Details, Fall Tour Dates

Traveler, Trey Anastasio’s forthcoming solo album, will be released on October 16 via Rubber Jungle Records / ATO Records. Anastasio co-produced the album with Peter Katis (The National, Interpol, Jónsi) last fall in Katis’ Tarquin Studios in Bridgeport, CT. “My goal was to create an album that used the studio as an instrument,” says Anastasio, who began recording Traveler after Phish wrapped up its 2011 summer tour. “I wanted to work with Peter because he is a master at creating a sonic landscape,” notes Trey. “We were hoping for a cinematic end result.”
Along with Trey Anastasio Band, Katis invited several artists to work with them, including Mates of State’s Kori Gardner, The National’s Bryan Devendorf and Matt Berninger, and Icelandic percussionist Samuli Kosminen.
Trey Anastasio Band (TAB) will tour this fall to support Traveler. Today, Nashville's favorite 6-piece Kopecky Family Band unleash a new video for 'Heartbeat', the first single taken from their debut record, Kids Raising Kids. The video purveys a Wes Anderson feel and is a true testament to the value of creativity over a big budget. The band shot and edited the video themselves over the course of 2 days, on a slim budget of $9.
Kopecky Family Band also announced the pre-sale of Kid Raising Kids - now available in a number of formats and packages.
Kids Raising Kids (out October 23rd) is an adventurous record, five years in the making. It shows the progress of the band, both creatively and in terms of the band's chemistry. As co-founder Kelsey Kopecky puts it, Kids Raising Kids is "a time capsule of all the experiences we've had since we started playing together". The band's other co-founder, Gabe Simon says "this is the record where the band has finally found their voice", allowing fans to "take home the live experience", which the band has become known (and loved) for.

VH1 has added “Mercy 9.25.12,” an updated version of the band’s latest video, which was unveiled last week in honor of the first-ever National Voter Registration Day (NVRD). Building on the original “Mercy” video – which used images from 14,000+ fans to illustrate that "one by one we can turn it around” – the band added a message from Dave Matthews about voting and an embedded link to HeadCount.org's voter registration page. NVRD brought together volunteers, artists, celebrities, organizations and corporations for a single day of coordinated efforts around voter registration. In 2008, 75 million Americans eligible to vote didn't, many because they weren't registered.

Today, Brooklyn's Slowdance releases their Boyfriend / Airports 7" on White Iris Records. The two tracks reveal the group’s dulcet yet compelling indie pop tendencies, equal parts New Order and Hardy. “Boyfriend,” the single’s A-side is a sparkling pop number infused with a sunny vintage feel. Its B-side, “Airports,” is a sultry, swelling lounge track led by frontwoman Quay Quinn-Settel's winsome croon.
What makes the band unique is actually very simple. Initially formed in 2009 by a collection of friends— bassist Thomas Quigley, keyboardist Luke Fox, guitarist Kyle McKeveny and singer Quay Quinn-Settel— its purpose is to make music its members would like to hear. “We all agreed we wanted to try for pop melodies,” Luke says. “But beyond that we didn’t want into go into it with any kind of set rules or influences. We just wanted to see what would happen when we started playing together.”
Slowdance spent its first year discovering what its members' mutual influences and disparate individual styles could combine to create. While Quay sings both in French and English due to her childhood split between Miami and Paris, the songwriting is completely collaborative. “It all comes from jamming around during practices together,” Luke says. “We all give each other input. It makes each song stronger in the end.”
From the beginning, Quay wanted to sing half their songs in French because, as she says, “I speak both, why not sing both?” The other band members whole- heartedly agreed, “especially since we love old French pop music”, says Luke. Artists such as Françoise Hardy, France Gall, Marie Laforêt and Catherine Ribeiro heavily influence them.
The group, which has received accolades from SPIN and Nylon among other press, continues to fine-tune their collaborative vision in an ever-expanding repertoire of songs. And, in the end, the imaginative, engaging music that emerges could only come from one place: friendship.
The Egg, one of the most innovative artist's in the UK's EDM scene, have released the video for "Catch", in anticipation of the US release for "Something To Do", their first album since 2006. The video provides a fitting visual for the brilliant slice of electro disco, tight production and ominous 'feel good' chorus that "Catch" is composed of. In addition to the original composition of the track, there are also several remixes available for streaming and download, including versions by Psychemagik, The C90s, Tom Laroye & Hurukan. Whether remixed or in its original version, "Catch" is a club ready anthem that perfectly introduces us to what is sure to be one of the biggest EDM releases in the US this fall.
"Something To Do" is already experiencing tremendous success in the UK where the band has achieved notoriety for their big hooks and use of live instrumentation during performances. Nashville based indie rock sextet Kopecky Family Band announce October tour dates in support of their debut album, Kids Raising Kids, out 10/23. The tour begins on October 11th and will take them through the end of the month driving them through the Northeast (full list of dates below).
The adventurous, self-released upcoming record is the culmination of five years progress for the band, both creatively and in terms of the chemistry that makes these six individuals a family. "It's a time capsule of all the experiences we've had since we started playing together" says co-founder Kelsey Kopecky (vocals/keys). Gabe Simon (vocals/guitar), whom Kelsey founded the band with adds that this is the record where Kopecky Family Band has "finally found its voice". Young Buffalo, the Oxford, Mississippi based indie rock duo consisting of Ben Yarbrough and Jim Barrett, are currently giving away their new single "Nature Boy" as a free download here. "Nature Boy" offers a glimpse into the Afrobeat-tinged, organic rock that makes up Young Buffalo's highly-anticipated latest EP, due out this fall on Votiv. "Nature Boy" exhibits the rare combination of infectious melody and progressive songwriting that results in a unique listening experience while still offering fans the comfort that comes along with listening to something familiar.
The music of Young Buffalo's upcoming release highlights the more mature mindset the band approached the recording process with this time around. The band is a more cohesive unit than at any other point in their career, and they are genuinely happy playing music together. When asked how the recording of this EP has changed his view of the band's future, Barrett offered this statement: "Two years ago I would've answered like 'we're going to win Grammys and tour the world. Now thats just bullshit. I just want to be able to tour and make records, anything else is a bonus. I just want an excuse not to be a caterer full time".
Young Buffalo was born out of the prolific, yet under the radar, local University of Mississippi music scene, and its formation took place over several long and sporadic years. Although the band can trace their origins back to Jim and Ben writing music together in high school, it wasn't until Jim self-recorded an EP in the spring of 2009 under the moniker 'Young Buffalo' (a nickname he had for Ben at school) that the band was truly born. The duo's eclectic personal tastes and the fact that both songwriters are proficient at a variety of instruments has resulted in a sound that is both accessible and thoughtfully progressive.

Life in Film are London four-piece Samuel Fry, Micky Osment, Edward Ibbotson and Dominic Sennétt. The band have released their debut EP via Tell Your Friends/Sony Music, with lead track Needles & Pins available as a free download.
The EP contains five tracks, ‘Needles & Pins,’ ’Suitcase,’ ‘Carla,’ ‘Until It’s Over’ and ‘Lose Control.’ These were all recorded with legendary UK producer Stephen Street (The Smiths, Blur, The Cranberries) after he heard some of the band’s early demos. From there he committed to full album production duties.
The band’s singer Samuel Fry on "Needles & Pins": ‘‘It’s a song about lost love. I guess that’s pretty explicit in the lyrics. Musically though I guess it worked its way into something quite expansive - once we had a nice groove going on it was possible for us to keep it quite spacious, with guitar and bass details coming in and out. It all came together quite naturally from a basic idea which we gradually developed. We treated each tune in isolation and tried to find the musical context which fits it best. In the studio we tried to capture a natural sound, and I think this comes across on the EP and gels it together well.’’
The EP works to showcase the band’s musical range, from the dynamic quality of ‘Until It’s Over’ to the delicate sound of ‘Carla.’
Life in Film’s last single "The Idiot" was self-released towards the end of 2011 and gained them key fans at press. i-D magazine had this to say about the band: ‘‘Their sound carries inflections of Johnny Marr’s infectious guitar hooks with Nick Cave’s melancholy poetry.’’
The band also caught the attention of Burberry’s creative director Christopher Bailey last year after seeing Samuel, Dominic, Edward and Micky playing an unplugged session on youtube, he immediately enlisted the boys to record a spot for his Burberry Acoustic series.
Life In Film is touring the UK throughout Septemeber and October.
When Dave Matthews Band invited fans to take part in the creation of a video for its latest single "Mercy", 14,334 responded, submitting original photos and videos. Those who contributed to the process - echoing and enhancing the song's call for unity and action - were rewarded with an early look at the resulting clip, directed by James Frost (Radiohead, OK Go), before it premiered on Vevo.
"Mercy", the first single from Dave Matthews Band's forthcoming album, Away From The World, topped the Triple A radio charts for two consecutive weeks and is available now at all digital retailers. Scheduled for release on September 11 by RCA Records, Away From The World was hailed by Rolling Stone as the band's "Strongest album in years." Billboard praised it as "sometimes heart-rending, often seismic, always ambitious… [Matthews] showcases some of his most stirring, vulnerable vocals and lyrics to date."
The group recorded Away From The World in Seattle with Steve Lillywhite, who produced its first three records - Under The Table and Dreaming, Crash and Before These Crowded Streets. With the impending release of Kids Raising Kids, the band is offering the first single "Heartbeat" as a free download. "Heartbeat", with its ethereal instrumentation, hand claps and percussive piano exemplifies the laid back, yet progressive nature of Kids Raising Kids. It showcases the lack of fear the band has to to trying different routes in their pursuit to find the best way to finish a song, taking advantage of their technical prowess while embracing simpler options when the song calls for it.
If pressed to classify the band's sound, Gabe will describe it as a "modern, more aggressive Fleetwood Mac". The thoughtfulness and originality that comes with such an answer can be found throughout Kids Raising Kids. The record works in much the same way as a book, with each song a unique chapter. The tracks all have their own personality and voice, but there is without a doubt still something inherently 'Kopecky Family Band' about each one. Kelsey will tell you the album is about "Discovering Life" and the fact that while we are born basically the same, our paths through life and the people we meet along the way are what make us the individuals we are. This concept is evident on the album, not just lyrically, but in the way each track explores new musical territory.
Kopecky Family Band started when Kelsey and Gabe were in college. The two were among a group of friends who were, as Kelsey says "taking part in the old Nashville tradition of passing around the guitar". The two were instantly impressed with each other, and the song-writing chemistry fell inline just as quick. After a few writing sessions, the duo invited some of their friends to join them and a truly special band was formed. The past few years have seen the release of three EPs, relentless touring (including high profile gigs on the festival circuit) and multiple crowd-stealing performances at both SXSW and CMJ. Sirius XM Radio announced today that it will launch "Dave Matthews Band Radio", the commercial-free music channel featuring music, interviews and live recordings from the band's archives.
"Dave Matthews Band Radio" will launch on Saturday September 1st at 11:00 pm EST and will run through Sunday September 30th on Sirius channel 142 and XM channel 43. Additionally, "Dave Matthews Band Radio" will be available as a 24/7 channel online on channel 714 and through the Sirius XM Internet Radio App for smartphones and mobile devices.
"Dave Matthews Band Radio" will launch with an exclusive live broadcast of the Dave Matthews Band concert from the historic Gorge amphitheater in Washington state on Saturday, September 1st at 11:00 pm and will be rebroadcast throughout the month. SiriusXM listeners will also hear live recordings from the band's vast archive.
The limited-run channel will also feature music from the band's entire catalog: everything from their early days to their upcoming eighth studio album Away From The World, scheduled to be released on Tuesday September 11th. Canadian breakout rock outfit Imaginary Cities have premiered the third video from their critically acclaimed debut album Temporary Resident on Vevo.com. The video, for the track "Say You", follows a young girl as she wakes up to an empty house and proceeds to live out all those fantasies a child has about being presented with the freedom to do as they please. Overall, this video explores the same conceptual ground as the song itself, providing an intriguing visual to accompany this indie rock meets retro-soul ballad.

"This is how we've wanted to sound for years," states guitarist/vocalist, Alfie Scully.
What's most impressive about the ten tracks that comprise 'Maybe Today, Maybe Tomorrow' is that they constitute an entirely new beginning for the Essex four-piece, while both paying lip service to their roots and signaling a bright new future. This is the sound of a young band taking some gigantic risks and hearing them pay off.
On the topic of gigantic risks, there was no greater gamble for frontman Liam Cromby, bassist Jack Spence, drummer Tom Whittaker and Scully than to part ways with their former singer, Dan Brown, in June. Having recorded the majority of the record with producer Peter Miles (The King Blues, Dry The River, Canterbury), the remaining members of the band felt something was wrong, and decided to move forward as a quartet otherwise they wouldn't be doing their new songs justice. "It was to do with our personal happiness," explains Crumby. "When making this decision, we said if this dive-bombs then it dive-bombs, but we'll be happier for it. We didn't think of it as a brave step. We didn't care what anyone else thought because we knew it was the best thing for us."
The difference that the change of line up made is immediately apparent on 'Maybe Today, Maybe Tomorrow'. The level of musicianship, technical ability, and textural understanding partnered with frontman Liam Cromby's voice at the center, shows the world that rock music is not dying, but rather very much alive. It's kicking and being screamed out loud from the collective lungs of We Are The Ocean.
The band's first U.S. single, "The Road," is currently streaming on Revolver and is available on iTunes.

Dave Matthews Band will celebrate the release of its forthcoming album, Away From The World, with a performance at the legendary Hollywood Bowl in Hollywood, CA on Wednesday September 12th. Every ticket purchased online for the Hollywood Bowl show will receive a digital download of 'Away From The World' (standard album) on the September 11, 2012 release date. The new album was recorded with Steve Lillywhite, who produced Dave Matthews Band's first three studio records.

Away From The World, The Band’s Upcoming Album, Set For September 11 Release
Dave Matthews Band is inviting fans to take part in the creation of a video for its latest single, “Mercy.” Individuals who complete one (or more) easy-to-follow photo and/or video tasks may find their images featured within the unique, fan based music video. One lucky fan who enters will win a trip to the final show of Dave Matthews Band’s summer tour, which will take place at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA on September 9. Bryan Ellis EP Premiere: "Cloud of Unknowing"
Bryan Ellis just premiered his debut EP "Cloud of Unknowing" on Pigeons and Planes this week. Bryan's got a rather unique story, and it is clearly reflected in his music. Fresh off their near sell-out CD Release Party at prestigious New York City venue Mercury Lounge, Brooklyn based indie outfit Riot !n Paris have released their highly anticipated sophomore album Sample Sale for free download. Sample Sale, the buzz for which has been snowballing since the release of their Temper Trap sampling single 'Disposition', shows a great deal of maturity for the duo. The 9 tracks on this album capture the full range of the musical spectrum. From the party anthem "What a Waste" to the more reflective nature of "The Last Night", there is a track for any mood you're in.
The release of Sample Sale is the capstone on a very big month for Riot !n Paris that began with them winning an MTV Online Award for "Most Extreme Fan Outreach". Bryan Ellis releases "She"
Bryan Ellis’ new video for She, off his forthcoming EP "The Cloud Of Unknowing". Good music is hard to describe, but easy to listen to, and Bryan's music speaks for itself by inspiring listeners in the same indescribable way that his songs are “profoundly inspired by nothing and everything”.
Through his experiences in San Francisco, Atlanta, New York and other cities all over the country, Bryan is able to tell his stories in a unique reflection of sound, all influenced by what he calls "a momentary reality". Everything from sacrifice, reverie, beauty, pain, and love, Bryan has the ability to express. He has come a long way since his first night in New York when someone robbed him of his backpack which contained everything he ownedevery dollar he earned and every song he wrote. Despite this incident, he made New York his home and has since been working with T.C. Love, making music and working on a production deal with Title 9 Productions. Currently Bryan is working with No I.D., who has produced albums for Rihanna, Jay-Z and Kanye West.

New York based live band hip hop collective Dussel Has Friends have released a music video for their track "American Made". The video, which was conceptualized and edited by DHF's frontman James Donald provides visceral imagery to accompany the track's glimpse into the commonly underestimated darker side to family life in the United States that seems to be present no matter an individual's financial status. The band is also offering the track as a free download, which can be found on their Soundcloud page along with five other free tracks from Dussel Has Friends.
Dussel Has Friends have been steadily building up a cult following throughout the northeastern USA over the past few years. After a six month absence from recording and performing last year following their original drummer leaving the band, Dussel has been quickly gaining momentum as new studio versions of fan favorite tracks "Burn In Heaven" and "One For The Road" and word of their impressively re-tooled live performance have made their rounds on the internet.

Britain's current garage rock heroes Band of Skulls were recently featured on VEVO's "Detected" interview series, where they offered insight into how the band came to be as well as some of their own individual influences. 'Detected' is a monthly video series hosted by VEVO, the leading all premium music and entertainment video platform in the world. Band of Skulls joins the likes of Ellie Goulding, Civil Twilight and The Wanted among many other revered artists to have been included in this highly regarded feature.
Band of Skulls are currently touring off their critically acclaimed sophomore album Sweet Sour, which was released this past February. New Video from Bryan Ellis!
Bryan is an incredibly talented vocalist based in New York City, who also happens to have one of the most interesting life stories. The product of a military family, who's parents divorced at a young age, Bryan was born into a nomadic lifestyle as he moved around constantly for the first 16 years of his life. This drifter mentality has followed Bryan into his adult life, as he's continued to move around incessantly, taking on various scenarios (from making six figures as the youngest mortgage broker in the US to being literally homeless and living on the street). All the while, he kept pursuing his dreams of making a living off of the tremendous vocal ability he inherited from his mother and crafting himself as an artist.
Bryan is legitimately one of the most promising vocalists out right now. He's currently co-signed to a production deal with Title 9 Productions and T.C. Love of the Beatdoctorz and many big things are in the works for 2012.

Band of Skulls Announce North American Tour Dates!
English garage rock outfit Band of Skulls will be back in North America with select dates later this summer and throughout the fall. The band will kick off this tour August 3rd at Lollapalooza in Chicago before embarking on a few headlining dates intermingled with opening spots for Jane's Addiction. In October, the band will finish up this North American run with six dates opening for Red Hot ChiliPeppers culminating in a performance at this years Austin City Limits Festival on October 13th.
Band of Skulls will be continuing to tour in support of their most recent release Sweet Sour which was released in February of this past year. They recently completed a very successful headlining tour of North America and are playing to ever-growing crowds this summer as they hit the festival circuit both here in America and throughout the rest of the world.

Former Supergrass frontman Gaz Coombesreleased his highlyanticipated debut solo album 'Gaz Coombes Presents...HereCome The Bombs' digitally today in the United States via HotFruit Recordings. This record represents a continuation of Gaz'sday-to-day life in music, and marks the reunion of Gaz and producerSam Williams, whom Coombes first worked with on the Supergrassalbum 'I Should Coco'. Recorded between Coombes' home studioand Williams' Temple Studio, both in Oxford, this record exploresthe unexpected whilst maintaining the famous love of melody that marked some of Supergrass' finest moments. Our first introduction to Gaz's debut solo effort was the video release of first single "Hot Fruit", which premiered last month. "Hot Fruit" serves as a suitably left field calling card for thealbum, with it's off-kilter time signature providing a powerfulstatement of intent that offers fans a glimpse of the miprogressive rock put forth by Gaz on this album.
'Here Come The Bombs' opens with the ethereally dreamy 'Bombs',and from that first track this album reverberates with Coombes' sonic experimentations. Sir Tomz began life in the rap crew Shadowless who had a big release on Big Dada Records. As an integral member of the crew, Tomz showed his skill on the mic and behind the boards achieving major attention from urban music lovers worldwide. Sir Tomz aka Shadowless Tomz went on to remix Roots Manuva's 'Bashment Boogie' for the Big Dada Records label compilation 'Extra Yard' which was mixed by DJ Excalibah, as well as the track 'Sky Fall' by Shadowless featuring on Tim Westwood's well respected CD compilation album 'UK Hip-Hop 2002 Vol.1'. Sir Tomz has also played live all over the UK, Spain and France as well as producing for other artists and guest featuring on other artists releases.
More recently Tomz has been back on his grind and making waves here in the UK and in the USA. Sir Tomz decided to remix five of the tracks from the album over industry beats and then dropped two music videos for them both having over 4000 hits on You Tube. The US unofficial remixes have been used on mixtapes from DJ Ames and Tricksta from UK Runnings, as well as featuring on the US released mixtape from DJ 5X & Coast2Coast Mixtapes entitled 'International Speaker Box 2' which was also hosted by Sir Tomz. He recently got commissioned to do a remix for Chicago label Knowledge Giving Birth (KGB) as well producing a ten track street album for MKD from Royalists. With a new energy and a new focus, Sir Tomz is bringing us back to reality. Bubblegum free, Sir Tomz is conscious Hip-Hop with a message and an artist with staying power.
